How do I use Peezy?
The first step is to answer a simple set of questions to determine your current level of fitness. For a more detailed explanation see here: https://peezyapp.com/how-peezy-works
Is Peezy for me?
Peezy is designed to make exercise fun. This is done by keeping the intensity of the walk, bike or run at a level where you neither feel short of breath nor miserable. So, if you are like millions of people who hate exercise because you have always been told its all about ‘no pain, no gain’, then Peezy is definitely for you.
I thought I had to go all out to get the benefits of exercise?
There is plenty of evidence to show that, even at a comfortable pace, people can gain the benefits of exercise. This includes maintaining and improving fitness, but also the widely acknowledged health benefits of exercise.
How do you determine my level of fitness?
Data from in-lab fitness testing has been used to build an algorithm that can estimate your VO2 max (a measure of your fitness level).
How do you determine my level of fitness?
Data from in-lab fitness testing has been used to build an algorithm that can estimate your VO2 max (a measure of your fitness level).
What is VO2 max?
All activities require oxygen, obtained from the air that we breath. This includes sitting down and doing nothing. Our body needs oxygen to facilitate energy production, so to fuel all living processes. When we increase our activity levels, the amount of energy required increases, therefore increasing the requirement for oxygen. V02 max refers to the maximum rate of oxygen our bodies can use, and determines the type of activity and the intensity you may do it at . V02 max is different for individuals.
What determines my VO2max and can I increase it?
VO2 max is determined by a number of factors, including your gender at birth, your age and your current levels of activity. As we get older, our VO2 max declines, and in those who do less activity, it declines faster. The only sure-fire way to maintain VO2 max levels as high as possible, is continuing to be active.
How do you keep me at a comfortable pace?
Based on your VO2 max, we determine something called your ventilatory threshold. The ventilatory threshold is the point on which breathing becomes harder, and in general exercise becomes uncomfortable.
For a huge proportion of people this is where exercise becomes uncomfortable and often leads to not wanting to do anymore in future. But, through your questionnaire, and by doing activities with Peezy, we will make understand what pace is comfortable for you, and keep you there!
What activities can I record?
At present you can record walking, running and cycling through your phone, which you need to carry with you. By carrying your phone we will know the pace you are doing your activity and feedback whether you should slow down, as with time this may become uncomfortable, or speed up, so to maximise the benefit you are getting whilst at the same time staying comfortable.
We plan to integrate the ability to use your smart watch in future, as well as add your own activities through the app.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account and data directly from the app. You can find the functionality from your profile -> menu on the top right -> delete account.
If you no longer have the app installed, you can request the deletion by sending an email to hello@peezyapp.com. You must send the request from the same email address you used to register at Peezy.
